The Debate Over the Constitutionality of the Affordable...

Essay 3 The question of whether or not Congress has the power to force people to buy health insurance has been highly advocated by the supporters, and highly scrutinized by the opposition. The constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 has thus been defended on both sides. Advocates argues why it is constitutional by providing reason and benefits of the Act, and the opposition argues why it is not constitutional by providing reason, and stating the drawbacks of the Act. The debate about the Constitutionality of the Act boils down to whether has Congress violated its powers as outlined in Article I of the Constitution. Article I gives three main powers to Congress, and those were restated by the Supreme Court in Perez v. United States. Firstly, Congress can regulate the channels of interstate commerce. Secondly, Congress has the authority to regulate and protect the instrumentalities of interstate commerce and persons or things in interstate comme rce. Thirdly, Congress has the power to regulate activities that substantially affect interstate commerce. However, the last step is at interest regarding this topic because it draws attention towards the participation/non-participation about the Affordable Care Act that could potentially affect interstate commerce. This is concerning because although the local activities implied in the third power do not directly participate in interstate commerce, all local activities within the U.SShow MoreRelatedThe Affordable Care Act Is Surrounded By Numerous Political Circumstances1441 Words   |  6 PagesThe Affordable Care Act is surrounded by numerous political circumstances. Direct Marketing Memorandum Free Essays

This memo is with regard to the current problem as to the proposed shift in marketing strategy for company products. As you have all been made aware, a recommendation was recently submitted to the Vice President for Marketing with the suggestion being to establish a direct-marketing system for the company in order to increase sales and productivity levels. Furthermore, the rationale behind this line of thinking was that a direct marketing model would better improve the company’s capability to reach out to customers directly, and being able to address their needs and wants quickly and efficiently. We will write a custom essay sample on Direct Marketing Memorandum or any similar topic only for you Order Now This however, is now being contested by some of the major retailer clients in our distribution network, especially since it is their perception that this will essentially lessen their own sales and marketing initiatives. Not only will it mean reduced orders and client patronizing on their end, it will also effectively deprive them of profits and financial sustainability. It becomes therefore the position of this memo that a compromise must be arrived at, since the needs of both parties in this scenario must be taken into careful account. The new recommendation then is as follows: the establishment of a modified direct marketing system similar in nature to the model currently in use by Hewlett-Packard Corp. Instead of accepting orders on the company site and depriving retailers of their major function, decentralization to a certain degree will be done by forwarding all orders or requests on the site to the retailer systems for processing. While this model reduces outright profits on the part of the company, as opposed to the original direct marketing one, it would still retain the favor of the retailers in our distribution network, which basically amount to roughly 60% of all sales operations. This is believed to be the best option for the company to take given the current circumstances. How to cite Direct Marketing Memorandum, Essays

Improving Teamwork in Organizations †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Improving Teamwork in Organizations. Answer: Introduction: It is very well-known that human resources in an organization play a significant role in its growth and success. The Organization Man is a book and a wide concept that is given by William H. Whyte in the year 1956. It is one of the most effective books of the 20th century. It developed different kinds of American people use, when they think about the environs, workplace and life of people. This book of Whyte shows the American workplace. The theory of Organizational Man believed in necessary rightness of large teams and necessary wrongness of the individual (Whyte, 2013). However, organization man is an individual, who has fully taken on the behaviors and attitudes, which are expected by an organization that she or he has lost her or her individual personality and identity. The example of organization man is the employee, who cares only about the organizational objectives and not their personal objectives outside the workplace (Greenberg, 2013). According to the theory of organization man, the people become more satisfied that companies and groups can make better and effective decisions in comparison to individuals, in this way serving a company became preferable to enhancing individual creativity of an individual. These people are fully devoted to their organization with fully commitment and loyalty. This term comprises of an idea that the American employees had become traditionalists who lack the individuality and creativity and they wanted to go ahead with the large corporations and enjoy comfortable environment (Ghorbanhosseini, 2013). The concept of organization man is an extension of the social man. By introducing this concept, William Whyte believed that it is significant for a person to become loyal to the company and cooperative and collaborative with the colleagues. The people, who rely upon the organizational value chain system and perform the tasks in a way, are known as organization man (Ladge, Humberd, Watkins and Harrington, 2015). The foundation of this concept shows that each and every individual must sacrifice his individual identity for the sake of his organization. The author has given different prepositions regarding the concept of organization man. The first proposition is that an individual is meaningless and isolated by himself. The organization is the means of activity. An individual creates only when they come in a group. A group assists the individuals to produce as a whole, which is greater than total of its parts (Marcuse, 2013). Another proposition of this concept shows that team work plays an important role in achieving organizational objectives. Each and every person needs the belongingness. Everyone wants to belong to any team, group, families, relatives and any society. In this sense, the author states that there should not be any conflict between organization and man. If there is any conflict between organization and man, then interest of that individual will be sacrificed for the benefit of organization to eliminate that situation of conflict. It is true that despite all the changes in the business environment, the Organization Man is not that much relevant to todays business organizations (Pinder, 2014). In todays business environment, even organizations motivate their employees to balance their work and personal life. With the changes in the corporate landscape, the relevancy of organization man is also changing. In todays organizations, the top management submerged the personal goals and individualism in the favor of organizational traditionalism. They think that it is essential to survive at workplace. There were so many organizations, which have implemented the concept of organization man at their workplace, like; IBM, American Steel, Xerox and Sears Roebuck etc. In past decades, the organizations have taken many advantages by implementing this concept. Now, the things are changed, so people are not that much loyal to their organization. Instead of becoming committed and loyal, the employees made uneasy by the years of restructuring and reducing are now concentrated on their own accomplishments and careers. Changes in the systems have made these employees more movable, i.e. free agents, like they were. The modern organizations think that it will be ridiculous now to talk about The Organization Man in the diversity in todays workforce (Salas et al, 2015). Apart from this, to respond the changes in the society and international market place, some of the organizations are again trying to take the benefits of contributions of people and teams. In the process of decision making, there is the need of creating teams, which can assist in solving the problems and dealing with the challenges in competitive business environment. After looking at todays organizations, whether the ethic is social or protestant, there is more concern today about the work-life balance. In the global marketplace, the organizations are gulping one another up, looking for challenging positions and beginning up or going down (Wagner III and Hollenbeck, 2014). In his organizational theory, Whyte stated that it may be possible that organization man is not relevant now, but social ethic and its inactive abandonment to the organizational life is still relevant. Now, the organizations possess portable leader in their business environment, who works as organization man. This type of leader is equivalent to organization man of demanding, valued and problematic ideal, which enhances both the position of organizations and careers of its employees as well. However, in todays business environment, the organization man will be beneficial if the management take care about the interest of individuals. Now, the individuals only sacrifice their interests for the organization, if they feel positive that organization will care about them in every situation. It is the duty and responsibility of management to satisfy the expectations and needs of individuals (Whyte, 2017). The management should fulfill the needs of employees in an organization, so that they can stay engaged and motivated in performing their tasks and responsibilities in the interest of their organization. If todays organizations want to adopt this concept of organization man, then they need to give preferences to their employees and organizations need to look into the personal needs and lives of employees. An organization may have an organization man manager that will have a moderate concern for its people. Although, the organization man and teamwork may be beneficial for the organization, as employee commitment towards organization brings the better productivity of workforce. For example, employees in Japan are more committed to the organization as compared to Australian employees; this extent of commitment reflects the effective productivity of Japanese workers (Whyte, 2013). Sometimes, high level organizational commitment may create issues for the organization. It may have both positive and negative consequences on the organization. A moderate level of organizational commitment may enhance the productivity of employees and organization as a whole. When the concept of organization man was introduced, it worked as the answer to postwar life with the marketing of new and advanced technologies, like; affordable cars, television, phones, space travel and better lifestyles. In the current era, the rules and regulations of large organizations are less relevant because small business men are making fortunes from new and advanced technologies in order to lower the trends of corporate scenario. This new and modern economy appeared to have troubled the original analysis of Whyte (Wittkower, 2015). But now, different collapse of several business start-ups, mergers of national and international multinational corporations and economic globalization make create The Org anization Man more necessary as the background for knowing about the modern global market. From this analysis, it can be stated that the concept of organizational man is relevant in some situations. But sometimes, it can raise issues in the organization. The people, known as organization man are totally committed to their organization and they sacrifice their own interests for achieving organizational objectives. Being an organization man is a need of an individual. Everyone needs a group or an organization to survive in the business environment. The Steps I Took to Land My First Freelance Writing Job

Do you want to be a freelance writer but have no clue how to start? Or, are trying to make some money as a freelance writer and all youre getting are one-off content jobs for $20? Navigating the world of freelancing can be a challenge if you dont know where to find jobs or how to have steady work. I started freelance writing over two years ago. My twins werent even two years old when I landed my first client. I was new and made a lot of mistakes. Looking back now I see the steps that helped me land my first freelance writing job as a writer for an automotive website. Lets first look at what didnt work and then what did work. You Cant Make a Living With Freelance Marketplaces The very first place I found work was on iWriter. Now I know this isnt a freelance marketplace; its a content mill. All I knew was that it was easy to sign up and create a profile, look for a gig and get hired. My first – and only – writing job I had was for a toy product description. It was around 300 words, but it took me hours to write. Why? Well, I had no idea what the toy was and had to research on Amazon and YouTube to get an idea of its features. I then had to create a small description about the toy using a conversational tone. The client didnt want just a bullet list of the features or specifications. The client wanted a bit of a backstory to the toy. I finished the piece and received payment – $1.62 and decided this was not for me. I didnt have the time to waste writing for pennies. No way. I switched gears and signed up to Guru and Upwork (it was oDesk at the time). I created profiles and set my rate and pitched to jobs. I pitched to countless jobs and didnt land any of them. Im not sure why I never landed any of those gigs. It could have been my lack of experience or the rate I bid was too high. Im actually happy I never landed a gig with Upwork because I think I wouldve totally given up and not have pursued freelance writing. I realized it was impossible to make a living as a writer since the work on that platform was ghostwritten and your pay is based on your rate and not the value you place on your content. Letting Doubt Stop Me One thing I had to battle with as a new writer was the constant doubt I had. I felt like an imposter and knew I didnt have the credentials to back me up. Why would anyone hire me? Im not a journalist. Im not a good writer. Im an introvert. For a while, I was paralyzed, and my doubts took over me, but with some much-needed pep talks by my husband I was able to snap out of it and get back in the game. Here is what helped me land my first freelance writing job. I Created an Online Presence I learned early that to make it out there as a freelance writer (away from Upwork and other freelance marketplaces) I had to make a name for myself. But how? I decided to set up a Twitter account and LinkedIn account. I also knew I needed a   home base or a website for my services. At first, my niche was generalized. I didnt want to pigeonhole my service and felt that if I was just a content writer that ANYONE would hire me. I now know that thats the wrong way to approach freelance writing, but back then I still managed to get clients, so it didnt hold me back that much. So, my website and my social media profiles helped me get online, but I still needed a way for prospects to find me. They werent going to stumble on my site anytime soon. I had to find a way to spread the news I was a freelance writer. I Strategically Guest Posted Can I tell you a secret? When I first started out as a freelance writer, I looked up to a lot of other freelance writers. I studied their website, their copy and where they were writing. Then I researched if those places hired or accepted guests posts. If that successful writer published on Social Media Today, you bet I will try that too was my philosophy back then. I made sure to write guest posts in my niche back then (health and parenting) and guest post on sites that I saw other freelance writers guest post on (like Social Media Today and Brazen Careerist). During this time I started a blog but mostly blogged about the world of freelance writing since it was a new passion of mine and I wanted to write about it. So in a month or so I had several guest posts out, started a blog and was ready to start pitching. I Pitched Hard I learned that the more I pitched, the better chance I had at landing gigs. But, in the beginning, I just pitched to ads I liked and were in my niche. Those pitches were for a lot of health and parenting blogging gigs. The pay wasnt the greatest ($25 a post), but I just wanted to land a gig. I also did some cold pitching and pitched to educational companies that used Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). Since my educational background is in Psychology and ABA therapy, I thought there might be a need for a content writer that understands the principles of behaviorism. After a while though, I wasnt getting any responses to my pitches. I had to make a change. Right then and there I decided that I had to pitch to jobs that werent in my niche, but were still interesting to me. I pitched to job ads for a: Canadian living writer Pilates writer Article writer for a refrigeration company Pet writer WordPress theme writer If I was remotely interested in it, I pitched to it. And one of my pitches caught the eye of the editor for an automotive enthusiast site. Soon after I had an inquiry for social media writing and editing. I found new confidence and started getting inquiries for eBook formatting and eBook cover design. I couldnt believe I was getting paid to do all this fun stuff. I love creative work and writing. I finally found a path to getting paid for my value and making a living as a writer. I wasnt scrambling trying to land a gig for $25. I was making $100 a post, then $120 and I kept moving up and up and recently, I made $600 from a post under 1500 words. My way was working, and I found a framework, or blueprint, that can work for anyone. What Are You Waiting For? My blog is filled with information to help you get out there and land a freelance writing job. But, dont you want more? Dont you want to know how to build a successful freelance writing business so that you can make a living as a writer? Over to you – tell me what youre doing to land your first gig. If youre ready to really earn a living from writing, you can get your step-by-step profitable freelance writing blueprint by joining Write Your Way to Your First $1k. It walks you through the exact action steps you need to take to land clients, tweak your website to increase conversions and get paid as a writer.

Goals and Approaches of health care operations management Essay

Goals and Approaches of health care operations management - Essay Example The scope, in healthcare, targets improved services and reduced costs. One of the purposes of operations management in health care is to improve services towards the core objective of promoting well being. The branch of management aims at coordinated processes and resources for optimal quality and quantity outputs. Coordination of personnel from different departments and promoting personnel’s technological skills, and identification and use of necessary technologies are examples of targets for operations management in the healthcare environment. The management also aims at improving patients movements into and within a care facility to eliminate time wastage. In addition, change is a necessity in any environment and often faces resistance despite potential benefits. Operations management aims at identifying and implementing necessary changes for improved services while at the same time ensuring personnel utility during such changes. Planning and coordination of internal and ex ternal activities to a healthcare setting are other objectives of operations management in the care sector (Langabeer, 2008). Mathematical models such as simulation and programming helps to determine targets for planning and actions (Denton, 2013). This week’s media segments on objectives of operations management in the health care set up informed me of the need for effective leadership in the management role. While operations management aims at analyzing the environment of a health care set up, developing frameworks for improvements and implementing proposed changes, challenges to adjusting to new technology and processes require leadership roles for ensuring that personnel support operations management decisions. Differentiated leadership potential for a contingency approach is the best because of diversity of personnel and dynamism of work environments. Such leadership styles as transformational leadership,
